Blog 101 - To those of you who are new to blogs and blogging, I wanted to give a brief overview of how to use this site. There are authors and followers. Authors are Val and Connie. Followers are all of our wonderful support system that continue to follow Bru's journey through this battle. Authors create posts, followers can read posts and comment on posts that have been created. As a follower you don't have to log in in with an account or sign in to comment. If there is a post that you are interested in commenting on, just click the comment icon below the post itself. Once you have typed your post, you must choose an account just below the text box, choose anonymous! If you are looking for all of the posts to the blog, scroll down the page and look to the right of the screen, every post is listed there by month and day. It's listed chronologically starting newest to oldest. If you want to add pictures, please email me at emtp1124@yahoo.com with a description of the picture and the caption you would like underneath it. Blogging is very similar to Facebook and other social sites, but it doesn't have the ability to post things to the blog like you do people's walls in facebook. If you are having problems viewing the blog, it may be because of settings that you have on your internet browser . You can type the URL into your smart phone browser as well and see the blog pretty well. If you want updates sent to you anytime things are updated, subscribe to the blog by email. This option is at the top of the page on the right hand side of your screen just above the picture of Bruce. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at emtp1124@yahoo.com.

Update

Hi All-

I just returned from my parents house this morning. It is with a very heavy heart that I post this.

Bruce is hanging in there. He has had two grand mal seizures in the last week or so. Each one tuckers him out a little more each time. He is sleeping a lot, I left at 11 this morning making 14 hours of sleep since last night. Harbor Hospice has been assisting in his care for the last month or so.

It's only a matter of time now. I would encourage all of you to please find a time to see Bruce, share your love with him and cherish what little time we have.

The family is hanging in there as well. It's day by day, hour by hour and if we can't muster that strength, one foot in front of the other. I pray for serenity in these times. A solace that will ease heavy hearts and minds.

We thank everyone for your kinds words and prayers, it means the world.

I will keep everyone updated as best I can in the coming days.

Connie

Latest Neurosurgeon Appointment

We went to see Bruce's neurosurgeon this morning for follow-up.  Bruce has been experiencing headaches off and on the last few days that he rates a 4, 5, or 6 on a scale of 1-10.  He is also very fatigued, no energy, no desire to leave the recliner; napping off and on throughout the day also.  He has had elevated blood pressure, which is now under control with medication. He has had a flare-up of his Shingles down his left arm and is being treated with medication, including Neurontin, for the pain.  He is pretty lucid and will answer questions when asked.  His vision is better than it was.  He has an intolerance for noise or lots of people so we are doing our best to be low-key and quieter for him (unless, of course, he's watching T.V.)  LOL!  All of the above symptoms are completely normal according to the doctor.  The doctor has prescribed Norco, which is acetaminophen and hydrocodone (narcotic), to deal with the headaches, which none of the over-the-counter analgesics will even touch as far as pain.

Bruce wants some books on audio, so I will make sure that we get some of those for him within the next couple of days.  Interested in biographies, memoirs, inspirational people, so if you have any of those we can borrow, please let us know!  That would be a great help to Bruce.

We have another follow-up appointment scheduled for 6 weeks and the doctor has told us if Bruce is too fatigued or unable to make the appointment, that would be totally understandable and, if we need questions answered or guidance, the doctor will do whatever is needed for Bruce's comfort.

So please continue all your prayers to give Bruce comfort and peace in this incredibly difficult situation our family is facing every day.  Love - Val
